A Different Way to Learn

Atelier training has never been about memorizing techniques.

It has always been about learning to see.

Learning Corel Painter is unlike learning most creative software. It is part technical troubleshooting, part understanding a digital medium that doesn’t always behave like traditional materials, and—most importantly—developing the artistic judgment to recognize what a painting truly needs.

Many artists begin by asking which brush to use or which settings to change. More often than not, the real challenge lies somewhere deeper: understanding value, edges, color relationships, composition, surface, and developing a workflow that supports the work they long to create.

Over more than two decades of working in Corel Painter, Heather Michelle Chinn has devoted her career to understanding not only how the software works, but how the timeless principles of traditional painting can live authentically within a digital medium.

Because every artist arrives with different strengths, challenges, and artistic aspirations, no two mentorships are exactly alike. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, each course of study is thoughtfully shaped around the individual artist—building technical confidence, artistic judgment, and a repeatable workflow designed specifically for their creative destination.

Heather believes technology should never replace artistic vision. Her greatest joy is helping artists bridge the gap between traditional and digital painting until they no longer think like software users—they begin thinking like painters.

Who This Is For

The Door is for artists who desire more than technique.

For the quiet creators.

The thoughtful observers.

The photographers longing to create painterly heirlooms.

The artists who have never quite fit the mold because they care more about craftsmanship than shortcuts.

Whether you’re just beginning your journey in Corel Painter or you’ve been using it for years, Heather’s approach is designed for artists who want more than software instruction. They want to understand why a painting works, develop the judgment to solve artistic problems, and build a workflow that feels authentic to their own creative voice.

You don’t need to know exactly where to begin.

You simply need the desire to grow.

The rest is learned—one thoughtful brushstroke at a time.

Sound Familiar?

Photographers and painters often come to me saying…

  • “I don’t even know where to start—Painter is overwhelming.”

  • “I got stuck halfway through a client piece and couldn’t finish it in time.”

  • “All my paintings look the same—I think I’m using the wrong brushes.”

If that sounds like you, you’re not alone.
And you're not stuck—you just haven’t had the right guide.

Why Learn from Heather?

1. Atelier-Level Personalization

Unlike mass courses or rigid tutorial libraries, Heather offers handcrafted one-on-one mentorships that adjust to your exact style, pace, and vision—from setup to brushstroke. This is about discovering your voice, not copying someone else’s.

2. Traditional Foundations + Digital Mastery

Heather is classically trained with deep roots in traditional fine art—and seamlessly blends that with over 20 years of digital Painter experience. You’re learning from someone who paints like a master, not just operates the software.

3. Painter for Photographers

Heather understands the photographer’s mind—because she’s taught thousands of them. Her mentorship is especially tailored for photographers wanting to evolve their work into painterly heirlooms, without losing clarity or control.

4. Ghost Painter Experience

For decades, Heather has quietly created high-end artwork behind the scenes for studios and professionals. This rare ghost painter background gives her unique insight into how to deliver beautiful, client-ready high resolution art under pressure, and with precision.

5. Faith-Rooted Mentorship (Without Preaching)

Her atelier is spiritually grounded and soulfully guided. Without ever being preachy, she offers a space for restoration—where creative blocks break, voices emerge, and the process becomes sacred.

6. Clarity Without Ego

Heather teaches with calm, grace, and logic. There’s no noise, no fluff, no performance. Just excellence, clarity, and a deep desire to help you unlock what’s been buried under years of perfectionism, tech overwhelm, or fear.

Artist Educator’s Statement

My role is not to impress. It’s to illuminate.

I teach from a place of precision, but also from presence.

My background is in professional speaking, traditional painting, and years of teaching digital tools to overwhelmed creatives. But I’m also an INFJ, a Highly Sensitive Person, and someone with a prophetic bent—so my work lives in that intersection where technique meets intuition, and where the spiritual often whispers through the brush.

I don’t believe in mass education. I believe in mentorship.
I believe the best teachers listen first. And I believe creative flow isn’t unlocked through pressure, but through trust.

I teach Corel Painter like a mapmaker—not just giving you steps, but walking beside you until the terrain feels like home. You won’t find fluff here, or performance. Just deeply tuned insight, a decade-tested workflow, and a sacred respect for your story and pace.

There’s a reason I’ve ghost painted for studios, spoken on stages, and quietly mentored hundreds behind the scenes—because I believe the real work isn’t loud. It’s faithful. And the artist you’re becoming deserves that kind of care.

I built this atelier for the artists who didn’t fit the mold. If that’s you—come in.
