Unlike a traditional photographic background that simply sits behind your subject, these contemporary surfaces contain visible movement, broken edges, directional marks, color shifts, and areas of quiet. They can become an active part of your finished composition.

Use them behind your subject—or bring them over your photograph as a texture layer. Experiment with blend modes, opacity, masks, rotation, scale, and placement. Let a painted stroke echo the movement of a petal. Allow texture to emerge in quieter areas. Pair a delicate subject with stronger marks and unexpected color.

And take them beyond macro florals.

Try them with portraits, still life, animals, botanical studies, composites, conceptual imagery, abstract photography, and fine-art photographic work.

What does my image need?
